Les lamas View larger

Llamas live mostly in South America. These domestic camelids have been reared in Bolivia, Peru, Argentina and Chile for over 4000 years, like cattle have been in our regions. They are used as beasts of burden, and their fur and meat are very valuable. However, they cannot be ridden. For instance, did you know that the way they spit depends on how displeased they are? If they are slightly unhappy, they eject saliva in a spray, but if they are really angry, they spit a greenish liquid made up of decomposing plant material straight from their stomachs. Ugh!!! Don't irritate them!
